First nuts and bolts are loose ! |

| We want to start off by testing the engine's compression - to get some information about the the state the engine is in. We first hooked up the battery of my friend's car to the 2600 and she pretty much came to live ! We pretty much pressed every button to check out it's function. Whipers are stille working as well as the automatic windows ! Lights, horn and fans are also still working. But ok : compression test. The starter motor clicked but didn't turn the camshaft, so we need to get those pistons moving ! We couldn't find a way to turn the engine manually without removing the radiator/oil cooler - so that's what we did. We also removed the hood to create some space. The project is taking off now ! Great. Maxime - thanks for the help. |

Yes ! We got the engine out this weekend ! We started out this weekend trying to turn the engine a couple of times - to check the compression. That didn't work so then we decided we would start working towards getting the engine out of the car. On sunday - the engine was just hanging on 8 bolts so we hinged it out in the garage with the help of the whole family ! Next weekend we will continue working on the body and the interior. |

The stripping continues ! |

| This long weekend ( sat - sun - mon ) we're continuing stripping the car. Most of the wires and other thingies are out of the engine bay, my brother is working on the boot and bumper, a friend of mine is getting rid of the doors and windows while a second friend is working on the dashboard. Thanks guys for all the help ! |

Here's another small update - this time with some extra pictures. Except for the suspension and steering stuff - the car is pretty much empty. All the chrome, rubbers, windows, engine parts - pretty much everything is out now. We're discussing on how to continue now - because we got a couple of issues : - Should we get rid of all the bitumen ? If yes - use paint-scraper and a heater or go for the acid bath ? - Do we have to get all the paint off the car ? If yes - go for the acid bath ? Sandblasting ? Sand it by hand ?
All suggestions are welcome - feel free to leave a message at the forum ! |

Welding a frame for the car |

| We're welding a frame together to support the car on wheels, so that we can start preparing the bodywork for paint and get rid of the axles and suspension. We bought some steel on saturday and started welding that evening. The frame isn't finished yet, but most of it is already done. |

It's been quite a while since our last update. Ofcourse my brother and I both were on vacation and now we're in the middle of our exams again. The frame for the car is finished and we lifted the car on top of it. It's working great ! We've also stripped the front wishbones and suspension parts and the rear axle. That thing is pretty heavy ! The brake linings are gone too as well as the fuel lines and steering wheel. I sent out a letter to mister Cauwenbergh in Belgium to ask his opinion about the body panels. If we get those, we can get rid of the rusty stuff, start welding body panels, and work towards a finished body. |
